A One-Sided Story

Friends, the above image is a perfect visual of what our mainstream media is doing to us these days.

They’re habitually, and unjustly, feeding us one-sided stories.  Some of those stories go viral.  But, before the whole truth can come out regarding those stories, reputations are destroyed.  Before the whole story can be told, the damage is already done.  Lies can get halfway around the world before the truth has a chance to get its pants on.  Right?!?

So, slow down!  Don’t take the latest news headlines you read as gospel.  Research before sharing.  Seek the truth.  Seek to be informed, rather than simply seeking to find information (true or false) that supports the views and narratives you’ve already bought into.  It’s hurting us, as a nation.

Walter Cronkite, the most trusted news anchor that our nation has ever seen, once said this: “In seeking the truth, you have to get both sides of a story.”  It’s very simple.  But, we seem to have forgotten it.

I hope that changes soon.

I can’t help but think that Cronkite would be ashamed of some of the things that are happening in journalism these days.  I know I am.  And I know that many of you out there feel the same way.

With each major fallout, our collective trust in the mainstream media continues to fade. Hoping that somehow – some way – that trust can be rebuilt…
