Forgive & Heal

November 2, 2018

Sid, Jackson, and Grace skipped school yesterday.

They traveled to Terre Haute with my mom and dad so they could listen to Holocaust survivor, Eva Kor, share stories from the time she spent in the Auschwitz concentration camp when she was a child.

Whatever learning they missed yesterday in their classrooms was replaced tenfold, thanks to Eva’s powerful story, and her message about the importance of forgiveness.

“Forgive and heal” is her mantra.

Eva was 10 years old when she entered into the concentration camp. Grace and Jackson are 10 years old, and Sidney is 12. I think this must have made Eva’s story particularly impactful to them. Mom and Dad said they were all ears during her 90-minute speech.

Mom also told me that when Eva met Grace after the presentation, she complimented her on her “feisty” demeanor. How cool is that? I told Grace she should be honored. Being called “feisty” by one of the strongest women left standing on the planet it quite a compliment.

Big thanks to my mom and dad for taking our kids, and my nephew, along with them today. I know they will be impacted by it for years to come. ❤️
