New Music from an Old Piano

September 14, 2018

My grandma bought this piano many years ago. She passed it down to my mom. And, last weekend, Mom passed it down to me.

It was a staple in my childhood, and a part of my life, for many years. Now it gets to be a part of my children’s lives. I’m so thankful for that.

I absolutely love music. Always have. And, if you ask me, the more music we can add into our home, the better.

The other night, Jackson was trying to figure out how to play a small part of the Jurassic Park theme song. Seeing him sitting there, totally determined, with his Velociraptor positioned nearby, was just too sweet. He practiced for almost an hour, and – sure enough – he eventually figured it out.

Several different generations of varying skill levels have touched those keys across the years…each of them creating new music. I can’t wait to hear all of the many new songs and sounds that will be coming our way in the years ahead…thanks to this old, simple, special piano that we now get to call “ours”.
