Not one ounce.

May 14, 2018

My mama. My best friend.

The other day, I was thinking about how I’ve never seen her wear an ounce of makeup.  Not one ounce.

That might seem like a weird thing to bring up on Mother’s Day, but I think it says a lot about who she is.  She isn’t out to impress anyone.  She is who she is, regardless of the audience.  She’s a straight-shooter.  She’s the type of mother/grandmother that isn’t afraid to get her hands dirty.  She works hard.  She runs.  She’s active.  She loves to be outdoors.  She isn’t afraid of life’s messes (both literally and figuratively).  She’s happiest when she’s wearing hooded sweatshirts, sunglasses, and tennis shoes.  You know…play clothes…because she loves to play with her grandkids, just like she loved to play with me and my brothers when we were little.  She’s comfortable in her own skin.  And she tries to make those around her feel comfortable as well.  It’s just one of the many things I love about her.

Happy Mother’s Day, Mom!  Love you!
