Squeals in the Street

March 27, 2017

Pride. Joy. Excitement. Relief.
The boy who has spent the past few summers sitting on the sidelines watching his sisters ride their bikes, finally found the determination and courage today to learn how to do it himself. He told me that he was “embarrassed” that he couldn’t ride with them, so he wanted to learn. We worked with him this afternoon and again this evening. Within a couple of hours, he was doing it on his own!! It might seem silly to rejoice over an 8-year-old boy learning to ride his bike, but if you knew what it took to get him to this point and all that he is up against, it wouldn’t seem very silly at all. To the residents of Fairfield Woods, I apologize for our family’s loud squeals in the streets this evening. But, this was a big night for Jackson. It was a big night for all of us.
