First Miracle of the Season

November 29, 2016

So, I’ve always believed that Christmastime is a season of miracles – both big and small. I think we just have to be willing to open our eyes to see them when they come our way.

Rather miraculously, as I was doing some online shopping the other day, I came across a doll that literally made me gasp when I saw it. I gasped because it looked almost identical to the very first photo that we ever received of Grace. It was the photo that was sent to us from our adoption agency, informing us that she was ours.

Our perfect match.

It’s a photo that still hangs on our wall today because it is so meaningful to us. It was our first glimpse of Grace. In it, she looks so somber, and so hauntingly beautiful. Each time I see it, my heart swells and aches…and when I came across this doll, my heart swelled and ached.

The resemblance between the doll and Gracie’s referral photo was striking. The facial features. The clothing. The hair. So striking, in fact, that I immediately ordered one to give to Grace this Christmas, despite the fact that I was already done purchasing all of her gifts for this year.

So thankful to have stumbled upon this gem. And I CANNOT WAIT to watch her open it on Christmas morning!
