Something dawned on me yesterday as I watched Grace step onto the softball field.

Out of all the games/tournaments I’ve watched since she started playing ball, I’ve only seen one Asian player take the field.

So far, she’s been one small fish in a sea full of Caucasian, Hispanic, and African American players. But, she has never mentioned this to me. It doesn’t seem to bother her. Maybe that’s why I hadn’t really taken note of it until today.

She just goes out there, gives it her all, and serves as a stellar representative for Chinese girls.

I guess you could say that makes her a bit of a trailblazer when she steps onto the field.

For that reason (and many others), she makes us so proud.
