Reaching out…

February 16, 2015

Haven helped me put together a care package yesterday to send over to his birth family. And by “helped” I mean that he sat there watching, smiling, and chattering away : )

The search team suggested that we do this as a way to build some trust, and help convince the birth family that we are who we say we are. They think this gesture will help calm some of their worries and fears, and push them toward opening up about Haven’s story.

They recommended sending over just a few items. But, as you can see, I didn’t stop at just a few. I couldn’t!  I went to Target and scavenged through the clearance racks for as many good deals as I could find. After looking through the photos that were sent to us this weekend, it was painfully obvious that they don’t have many material possessions at all.

By reaching out to them through this care package, we pray that they will – in turn – begin reaching out to us.

PRAISE THE LORD!!! I had been checking your blog last week for news, and praying & wondering about the search…and this is just AMAZING! We, too, had a successful search (although not THIS successful) and are now in contact with our daughter’s finders. They were so excited to hear news about the baby they found, and they’ve requested to keep in touch with us. We’re still holding out hope that someday her birth family will be found, but we’re incredibly grateful to now know the kind people who cared for our daughter in her most vulnerable moment and have thought about her frequently since then.

We’ll be praying that your son’s birth family will begin to trust that your family is offering them nothing but love & grace.

Yes! You are so blessed to have connected with the finder. I will post soon about this wonderfully complicated story of ours 😉 Thanks for reaching out to me on here! Always love connecting with other Guiyang families!
