So, you don’t look forward to spending Thanksgiving with your extended family?

The preparations and/or travel arrangements stress you out?

The mere thought of carrying on another two-hour conversation with that crazy uncle of yours makes you want to jab your eyes out?

Your goal each year is just to merely survive through an entire day spent with that imperfect family of yours?

Yes, family gatherings can be hard. But, I encourage you to keep in mind that there are over 150 million orphans across the world that would give anything to have what you have.

They would give anything to have a family.

Imperfections, warts, craziness and all.

Given the opportunity, they would run with open arms toward the group of people that you find yourself wanting to run away from.

As hard as it may be for some of you, I encourage you to try to stop for a moment and count your blessings tomorrow.

Be grateful for that imperfect family of yours.

And if you want to start finding joy in those family gatherings, I think you have to begin with gratefulness…because gratefulness is the root of true joy.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends ♥
