Red Thread Companions

August 29, 2013

Each of our kids has a blanket and/or lovie to use as their bedtime companions.

A couple of months ago, I found the cutest little sock monkey blanket and lovie for Haven.  I purchased them and tucked them away in the box I have created for him in his soon-to-be closet.

But, Grandma Parks recently came across a cute bear lovie that is wrapped in the color red and has the words “Together at last” stitched on it.  It also has a long red thread stitched on it as well…..which would be very meaningful to Haven’s story when you consider the events that took place on the day that Bryan and I came to our adoption decision : )   The bear was created by “Bunnies by the Bay”, and a portion of the profits from the sale of this particular bear went toward Half the Sky (an incredible organization that exists to help China’s orphans).

In addition to the little bear, I found a darling blanket earlier this week that coordinates with it.  It, too, was created by “Bunnies by the Bay”.  It, too, features a long red thread on it.  Stitched upon it are these words:  “A red thread connects your heart to mine.”

Seriously, people.  How am I supposed to resist that?  So perfect for Haven.

As a result, those adorable sock monkey purchases won’t be needed any longer.  I will simply save them to give to a special family member or friend in the future as they welcome a new baby into their lives.  As much as I wanted to give them to Haven, these two red thread bedtime companions seem to be suited perfectly for him….
