XLVI

February 5, 2012

The reviews were mixed.  Some loved visiting the Super Bowl Village downtown………..others said that it wasn’t anything to get excited about.  We weren’t sure what to do. We went back and forth on it all week. After lunch yesterday, we made the last-minute decision to go ahead and give it a whirl.  I can honestly say that I am really glad we did. It had been raining all morning and was quite windy.  However, once we found our (free) parking spot outside of the IPS administrative building downtown, the rain subsided.  We were blessed with over an hour of rain-free exploration downtown.  We purposefully only took Morganne with us.  We knew that we would have to do a lot of walking.  We knew that it would be chilly.  And, quite frankly, it scared me to think about trying to keep track of three preschoolers in an area as packed as the Super Bowl Village. The three of us just walked around and took photos.  The ginormous XLVI display on Monument Circle gave us a great opportunity to extend Morganne her first alphabet lesson : )  We got a few freebies along the way as well.  It was really neat to see the streets of Indy all decked out and filled with people.  Because we did so much walking, we weren’t too uncomfortably cold.  We had Morganne bundled up in a blanket for most of the trip, so she did just fine.  She was a real trooper……..and seemed to enjoy all of the many sights and sounds surrounding her – including the continuous stream of bodies flying overhead on the zip line! It began to rain as we walked back to our van.  By the time we reached it, Bryan and I were both a bit wet and chilly, but Morganne was (thankfully) able to stay dry. In spite of that 10 minutes of cold drizzle, it was still a fun and memorable afternoon.  It was great to be able to be a part of Indy’s Super Bowl experience. GO GIANTS!!!!!
